IVRA “SALLY MISENHEIMER” AWARD WINNERS
The Sally Misenheimer Award was established in 2002. Dedicated and named in honor of this exceptional person, the “Sally Award” is presented annually to a member of the Indiana Vital Records Association who has contributed time and energy to the association and it membership. Because of her devotion to the IVRA, Sally Misenheimer a Vital Records Registrar with Monroe County was the first recipient.
Sally served as Vital Records Registrar for many years and was instrumental in organizing the Indiana Vital Records Association. She had a generous spirit and lively attitude. Filled with fun and sweetness that was Sally. She was a role model for many of us and dedicated member of IVRA. In 1992 Sally was diagnosed with cancer. She underwent treatment and remained cancer free for ten years. In February 2003, a relapse occurred causing her death.
Beginning at the Fall Conference of 2002, members were asked to contribute to the Make a Wish Foundation in honor of Sally Misenheimer. We now present a check in Sally’s Memory to the American Cancer Society each year at our Fall Conference.
